Thunder Bay, Ontario

The Moose of Ontario are notorious pickpockets, prompting this cautionary signage:

The Pirate Ship "Vanity" is visible in the background.

I came across those signs on an all night drive from Sault Ste. Marie to the border south of Montreal. It was the night before my birthday (July 12, 1989) and we were hell bent to get to Vermont by morning. No street lights, no signs of life, except for a distant lonely farmhouse, and the amiable deer crossing signs turned to the menacing, lurching moose. We couldn't help feeling we'd got in a little over our heads, as we listened to Fine Young Cannibals (She Drives Me Crazy) over and over again and tried to stay awake.

The music of the Fine Young Cannibals does tend to drive one into a frenzy, doesn't it? It should be available by prescription only.
